Description
A vigorous grower with a dense and upright columnar habit, the Morning Glow Camellia produce an abundance of gorgeous, large, and formal double flowers with rows of overlapping petals that are slightly cupped and porcelain white. No visible stamens though there is a soft yellow glow at the center. The gorgeous flowers appear mid to late winter and continue well into spring. Perfect for cutting and use in indoor flower arrangements or just float one in a bowl of water.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, the Morning Glow Camellia can be grown as a large shrub or small tree. As a shrub this beauty is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or as a hedge or background plant in landscape borders and is especially nice as a corner plant or espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings. As the plant grows taller lower branches can be removed to form a highly attractive and colorful small evergreen tree that serves well as a focal point specimen in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to camellia gardens, white theme gardens, Asian gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors during winter by those who live and garden above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone
Suggested Spacing:Â 3 to 4 feet apart for a solid hedge;Â 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note:Â Â For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.

I specifically wanted camellias with white blooms and high shade tolerance. I had difficulty locating the morning glow camellia which met all my needs, but luckily wilson bros has a large selection!
My Camellias were delivered more quickly than expected, packaged well, and superbly healthy. They settled in quickly, seem very happy in their shady area, and are forming buds – I can’t wait to see their blooms in the next few months.——————————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! I ordered the one gallon pot. It was packed and shipped perfectly and I got it within two days! The plant was super healthy and had new leaves budding. I’ve had the plant a few weeks now and since then the leaves have really popped. I’m hoping it’ll bloom come next season as it sadly didn’t have any when it shipped.—————————————We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! Thanks for the great review!
