Description
A dazzling Butterfly Bush and the first to display multiple colors on on the same flower cluster, from June to frost ‘BiColor’ features abundant lavender color buds that open to 8 to 10-inch long spikes of fragrant flowers in shades of lavender, orange, gold! As with all other butterfly bushes the color and sweet fragrance and nectar of BiColor will have the butterflies and hummingbirds thanking you for planting it…but deer and rabbits won’t touch it and will be cursing your name! Attractive gray-green leaves are an excellent backdrop to the flowers and provide their own unique color and texture in the garden. A fast grower that starts to produce flowers at a young age, BiColor will not disappoint!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 8 feet tall and wide (depending on whether or not plants are cut back in late winter), the BiColor Butterfly Bush is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or as a hedge in flowering shrub borders or centerpiece or background in perennial gardens. Also suitable for growing in somewhat large pots with at least an 18′ rim diameter. A natural choice for butterfly and hummingbird gardens and fragrance gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 4 to 5 feet apart for solid hedges; 12 feet apart or more for space between plants
Growing Preferences
‘BiColor’ Butterfly Bush is easy to grow and isn’t too picky about soil type, provided the soil is well-drained and of average fertility. It prefers full to mostly sun however we’ve found that in zones 8 and 9 it appreciates some mid afternoon shade or filtered sun during the hot summer months. At least 6 hours of direct sun per day is suggested for best flowering. As with so many other plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can cause problems with the roots. Can be cut back to 12 to 18 inches above the ground in late winter or very early spring. Can also be deadheaded and pruned throughout the season for shaping purposes.

The one gallon Bi Color Butterfly Bush I ordered from Wilson Bros Nursery arrived in excellent condition and was very well packaged and well watered! I’ve been impressed! Wow. Great shopping experience here. The plants arrived in excellent shape. The growers had trimmed them back so as to minimize shipping stress. They are budding, branching and growing nicely. I’m looking forward to these attracting butterflies as I work for the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. This is my second order with Wilson Bros and I will definitely be ordering in the future. The plant is healthy and doing well. It’s flowering already just a couple weeks later, and already attracting several species of butterfly. Very cool! Doing great, even when shipped during a July heat wave. Everything about this was perfect. transaction, simple. plant arrived on time in excellent condition. the packaging! Really obvious Wilson Brothers actually care about their plants-it took 10 minutes, tin snips and needle nose pliers to unbox my butterfly bush. but it is perfect. It dropped a few leaves a week after being unboxed- repotted to 50 gallon pot for winter. Really doing nicely. Will not hesitate in ordering from here again!———————————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come!
